Started on the 4th of July, 1976, the Stone House celebrated energy independence through the use of passive solar design and recycled materials. |

|
Its design incorporated the heat of a Russian fireplace to keep the bath tub warm, a solar chimney to encourage natural ventilation, and a greenhouse to capture the winter sunlight. |

This passive solar home was built using a hybrid of Adobe and Cast Earth construction methods. These photos were taken while it was still under construction. It encompasses much of Jeffrey Zucker's interest in energy efficiency and passive solar design, including indoor garden spaces, water harvesting and natural materials. |

Affectionately referred to as "The Football" because of its unusual floor plan, this structure, located in the hills of Southern Ohio, was constructed in 1974 by Jeff Zucker. Using mostly recycled materials, its total cost was $37.43. It was originally intended as a quick shelter with no runing water, electricity or heat. Jeff ultimately occupied it for an entire year before his next project was undertaken. |
